Traditional Uses

Tuberose has been used in traditional medicine and perfumery for centuries:

  • Aphrodisiac
  • Mood enhancer
  • Perfume ingredient
  • Ceremonial and religious purposes in some cultures

Aromatherapy and Skincare Benefits

While primarily used in perfumery, tuberose absolute may offer the following benefits:

  • Emotional: Uplifting, sensual, calming, may help with anxiety and depression
  • Skincare: Potentially nourishing and healing for the skin
  • Physical: May help with muscular spasms and tension

Perfumery Uses

Tuberose absolute is highly valued in perfumery for its rich, complex aroma:

  • Used as a heart note in 20% of modern quality perfumes
  • Adds depth and sensuality to floral blends
  • Pairs well with other florals, citrus, woody, and oriental notes
  • Often used in high-end natural and organic perfumery

How to Use in Perfumery

  1. Use sparingly due to its potency - typically at 1% or less in fine fragrances
  2. Blend with complementary notes like jasmine, ylang-ylang, or sandalwood
  3. Warm gently before use if the oil is too thick or viscous
  4. Allow blends to mature for several weeks to develop full complexity

Recipes

1. Sensual Floral Perfume

  • 1 drop Tuberose absolute
  • 3 drops Jasmine absolute
  • 2 drops Ylang-ylang essential oil
  • 1 drop Sandalwood essential oil
  • 10 ml Jojoba oil

Blend all ingredients in a glass roller bottle. Allow to mature for 3-4 weeks before use.

2. Luxurious Body Oil

  • 1 drop Tuberose absolute
  • 2 drops Rose absolute
  • 3 drops Bergamot essential oil
  • 30 ml Sweet almond oil

Mix all ingredients in a dark glass bottle. Apply a small amount to moisturized skin.

3. Romantic Diffuser Blend

  • 1 drop Tuberose absolute
  • 2 drops Orange essential oil
  • 1 drop Vanilla absolute oil
  • 1 drop Patchouli essential oil

Add to your diffuser with the appropriate amount of water for a sensual, romantic atmosphere.

Remember to use tuberose absolute oil very sparingly due to its intense aroma and potential for skin sensitization.

These recipes can be adjusted based on personal preference and skin sensitivity.

CAUTION

  • May cause skin sensitization - use at 1.2% or less for dermal applications
  • Avoid use on hypersensitive, diseased, or damaged skin
  • Not recommended for children under 2 years old
  • Perform a patch test before use
  • Do not take internally
