Application Methods & Formulations
Because premixed chakra oils are typically 100% pure, undiluted essential oil blends, they should not be applied directly to the skin undiluted.
1. Diffusion (Atmospheric & Meditation Spaces)
Ultrasonic Diffuser: Add 4 to 6 drops per 100–150 ml of water. Diffuse in 30- to 60-minute intervals.
Passive / Desk Diffusion: Place 2–3 drops on an unglazed ceramic stone, lava rock, or wood diffuser disk near your workspace for subtle, continuous focus.
2. Oil-Based Perfume / Roll-On (Topical & Acupressure)
Carrier oils protect the skin barrier while slowing the evaporation of volatile top and middle notes, allowing steady absorption.
Carrier Oils:
Jojoba oil: Chemically a liquid wax; shelf-stable, non-greasy, and skin-neutral.
Fractionated Coconut Oil (MCT): Light, odorless, and fast-absorbing.
Warm Sesame Oil: Highly prized in Ayurveda for grounding Vata and warming tissues.
Dilution Ratios:
1% dilution (daily or sensitive use): ~2 drops of blend per 10 ml carrier oil.
2% dilution (standard roll-on perfume): ~4–5 drops of blend per 10 ml carrier oil.
Where to Apply:
Directly over the upper abdomen (solar plexus area) in slow, gentle clockwise circles.
Wrist pulse points, inner elbows, and temple regions.
3. Alcohol-Based Perfume (Spray Cologne / Eau de Toilette)
Using perfumer's alcohol (96% neutral ethanol) creates a clean, fast-drying aromatic mist with pronounced projection.
Proportions for an Eau de Toilette (~8–10% concentration):
Blend: 4–5 ml (approx. 80–100 drops)
Perfumer's Alcohol: 45 ml
Maceration / Curing: Blend the oil into the alcohol in an amber or dark glass bottle, shake thoroughly, and allow it to rest in a cool, dark cupboard for 7 to 14 days. This resting period allows the chemical constituents to marry and softens the initial alcohol sharpness.
4. Water-Based Room or Aura Mist (Sprays)
Because essential oils do not mix with water, an emulsifier or dispersant is required to prevent droplets from separating and floating on top.
Formula for a 100 ml Spray:
Distilled water or hydrosol (e.g., Frankincense, Chamomile, or Neroli): 80 ml
High-proof alcohol (or solubilizer like Polysorbate 20): 15–18 ml alcohol (helps disperse oils and acts as a preservative)
Essential oil blend: 20–25 drops (~1 ml)
Application: Shake well before misting your aura (above head and shoulders), meditation cushion, or room space before practicing.
5. Ayurvedic Body Oil & Marma Point Work (example with Plexus Solar Chakra)
Self-Massage (Abhyanga): Dilute the blend at 1% into 50 ml of warm carrier oil. Focus massage strokes around the Nabhi Marma (navel area) and Surya Marma (solar plexus point) to relieve deep somatic tension held in the abdominal wall.
Palm Inhalation: Rub 1 drop of a pre-diluted roll-on vigorously between palms, cup hands loosely over your nose and mouth (keeping eyes closed), and take 3 to 5 deep diaphragmatic breaths.
When & Where to Use It
| Context | Purpose | Suggested Method |
| Pre-Meeting / Public Speaking | Dissolves nervous "butterflies" and anchors self-assurance | Roll-on on wrists; quick palm inhalation |
| Focus & Project Execution | Overcomes lethargy, mental fog, or procrastination | Ultrasonic diffuser at desk or workspace |
| Yoga (Core & Solar Flows) | Enhances solar energy in Asana (Warrior poses, Navasana, twists) | Room/Aura mist or diffused in the practice space |
| Post-Meal Sluggishness | Supports digestive warmth and somatic processing | Clockwise abdominal massage with diluted carrier oil |
| Breathwork (Pranayama) | Pairs with Kapalabhati (Skull Shining breath) or diaphragmatic breathing | Palm inhalation or subtle diffusion |
