INFOS AND INTERESTING FACTS

Along with Oregano and Thyme, Mountain savory essential oil is one of the most powerful essential oils. For adults and children over the age of 12. Avoid when pregnant and breastfeeding. PLEASE READ THE CAUTION SECTION BEFORE USE.

Winter savory is a well known and loved herb around the Mediterranean basin, where it has been used since the antiquities, in the preparation of balms, poultices and sirups as well as an aromatic herb in cooking and food preservation.

This powerful essential oil has been traditionally used in oils, clays, and honey applications to help boost weakened immune system, protect from all kinds of bacterial, digestive, parasitic, and fungal infections, and used as a general purifying herb.

Mountain Savory has always been used with parsimony and, contrary to Oregano and thyme, its cultivation was not allowed in Monastery gardens, because of its believed libido tonic properties (“Devil’s herb).

Winter Savory essential oil must always be strongly diluted for skin applications (1 drop essential oil to 15 drops carrier), used in small amounts, blended with other essential oils, and used only for short period of times (as soon as condition improve).

Mountain savory and Oregano (Origanum compactum) are two plants with very similar composition, both famous anti-infectious essential oils. Winter savory has two phenols (Carvacrol and Thymol) while Oregano contains mainly exclusively carvacrol. As a result, Winter Savory has a wider field of action, and is more balanced than Oregano.
