RECIPES
Safe Essential Oil Addition Guidelines: Since this balm comes already aromatized with pure Bulgarian lavender essential oil, limit additional essential oils to a maximum of 0.5%, to keep the total essential oil concentration at safe levels
- 0.5% addition = 0.5g (approximately 10 additional drops in total) per 100g of balm. (20 drops ≈ 1g/ml) or 5 drops essential oils in total per 50gr balm;
- This keeps the overall EO content under 2.5%.
- For children, elderly, or very sensitive skin: Reduce to 0.25% (5 drops in total per 100g) or avoid additions altogether.
- Always patch-test your customized balm on a small skin area for 24 hours before applying on larger areas
Step-by-Step Customization
- Use clean, heat-safe tools (e.g., glass bowl, spoon) to avoid contamination.
- Melt the balm slightly: Scoop desired amount of balm into a heatproof bowl. Place over a bain-marie (double boiler) on low heat until just softened (do not fully liquify to preserve texture—aim for 40-50°C).
- Add essential oils: Drop in your chosen oils while stirring gently to distribute evenly.
- Cool and set: Pour back into clean glass jar or moulds. Let cool at room temperature (or refrigerate briefly for firmness).
- Label and store: Note the added oils, date, and new concentration. Store as per original guidelines.
