SOME RECIPES

3 DIY Recipes with Licorice-Macerated Sunflower Oil:

Here are 3 recipes using licorice-macerated sunflower oil for various skin concerns:

Important Note:

Always do a patch test before applying any new product to your skin. Apply a small amount on your inner forearm and wait 24 hours to check for any irritation.

1. Soothing After-Sun Balm (with Essential Oils):

This balm is great for calming irritated skin after sun exposure.

  • Ingredients:
    • 2 tablespoons licorice-macerated sunflower oil
    • 1 tablespoon shea butter
    • 2 drops lavender essential oil
    • 1 drop chamomile essential oil
  • Instructions:
    1. In a double boiler or heat-resistant bowl over simmering water, melt the shea butter.
    2. Remove from heat and slowly whisk in the licorice-macerated sunflower oil.
    3. Once combined, let the mixture cool slightly.
    4. Stir in the essential oils.
    5. Pour into a clean container and refrigerate until solid. *To use: Apply a thin layer to sunburned or irritated skin.

2. Brightening Face Oil (without Essential Oils):

This lightweight oil helps reduce hyperpigmentation and even skin tone.

  • Ingredients:
    • 2 tablespoons licorice-macerated sunflower oil
    • 1 tablespoon rosehip seed oil
  • Instructions:
    1. Simply combine both oils in a dark dropper bottle.
    2. Shake gently to mix. *To use: Apply 2-3 drops to cleansed face and neck, massage gently. Use morning and night.

3. Calming Cream for Irritated Skin (with Carrier Oil):

This cream is gentle enough for sensitive or atopic skin.

  • Ingredients:
    • 2 tablespoons licorice-macerated sunflower oil
    • 1 tablespoon aloe vera gel
    • 1 tablespoon calendula oil
  • Instructions:
    1. In a clean bowl, whisk together the aloe vera gel and licorice-macerated sunflower oil.
    2. Slowly whisk in the calendula oil until well combined.
    3. You can transfer the mixture to a pump bottle for easier dispensing. (If using a jar, use clean utensils to avoid contamination) *To use: Apply a generous amount to irritated or atopic skin. Reapply as needed.

Additional Tips:

  • You can adjust the consistency of these recipes based on your preference. Add more shea butter for a thicker balm or more aloe vera gel for a lighter lotion.
  • Always store homemade skincare products in a cool, dark place and use within 3 months.
  • If you have any concerns about using essential oils, consult a dermatologist or skip them altogether.
