INFORMATION

  • Curcuma aromatica (common name wild turmeric or aromatic turmeric, also known as, Kasturi/ Kasthoori turmeric or Kasturi manjal) is one of the many varieties of turmeric indigenous to India, the Himalayas, China, and other Asian countries.
  • Contrary to the common yellow root Turmeric (Curcuma longa), the highly aromatic wild Turmeric rhizomes are a white creamy colour, have a very distinct crisp, fresh and spicy camphor-like aroma (hence the name ‘Aromatica”) and a pronounced bitter taste.
  • Wild turmeric is therefore not used for cooking but is selected specifically for external applications. It is a favourite for skin detox and cleansing, for scar healing and purifying masks and creams.
