Cardamom is the name given to the dried seeds of Elletaria cardamomum, a tall herbaceous plant, resembling the Ginger and from the same family. It bears spikes of small flowers that are followed by the pods (Fruits), containing the many tiny seeds that we know as spice.
Harvested and dried, Cardamom is revered throughout the Mediterranean, Oriental, and Asian worlds, for its warm, sweet, peppery, fresh, and green aroma.
Cardamon is used as a spice in foods and drinks the world over. Its dried seeds are commonly used as natural breath and mouth fresheners in India and customarily offered at the end of a meal, as a digestion-promoting treat, or brewed in digestive tisanes.
Cardamom and all its extracts hold a place of choice in Ayurveda hygiene and wellbeing routines. It is included in the composition of many herbal potions and creams, and its spicy aroma adds an interesting twist to many luxurious perfumes’ brands.
